Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
