Grief as Renowned South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country grappling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the forty-year-old presenter was approached by three suspects, with one began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.
The motive behind the attack is unknown and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, as per the official statement.
Details of the Attack
Police indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a location near the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the site supervising the installation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, according to reports.
"The report indicates the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," an official report stated.
Surveillance tape reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocks and dressed in what looked like a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries across the street.
It was further revealed that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the incident.
Key evidence, like spent shells, were found at the scene.

Authorities have requested eyewitnesses who may have seen the suspects to come forward.
"Evidence suggests they covered significant ground after the attack, and officers have been tracking them to establish their destination," stated a police chief.

His sister, Nicole Stock, expressed the family was struggling to come to terms with the loss.
"I am in shock. I am shattered," she stated.
"Everyone understood he was a champion for numerous individuals. He was a fearless commentator about issues not many people were ready to discuss. This is a tremendous loss."
She urged the citizens to refrain from sharing graphic images from the scene, explaining this was an deeply traumatic time, particularly for Stock's children.
