Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a former physician has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

List of Offences

The charging documents said the forty-five charges comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police have asked anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
