American performer Pat Finn, who featured in popular programs like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died aged 60.
The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in LA recently following cancer treatment from 2022 onward, per news outlets.
"He saw everyone as a friend - only friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a message.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
An Extensive Career on Screen
Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he played the lead character's sibling.
He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.
During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on several popular shows, including:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
He was most recognized for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His work in movies include "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Beyond his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was involved with a six-member improv team known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, peer Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared publicly.
The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
